Catalogo Svanire

Le esistenze di questi viandanti urbani, fugaci e sfuggenti, diventano straordinarie, placed directly before the viewer, and the ruins of Imperial Rome’s Forum seem suspended in an ahistorical dimension—neither metaphysical nor dreamlike. The Barcaccia fountain stands as a silent witness to countless tides. In this series, Lauriola introduced a new technique, using oil on canvas with a final resin layer. This glossy, transparent yet uneven coating shields the surface while allowing underlying details to emerge, creating an invisible protective barrier. Continuing along this path, the artist explores urban life, capturing men and women in motion toward unknown destinations, portrayed from the waist down in the project Visioni Urbane in Fermento (Urban Visions in Motion). Her painting technique, enriched with resin pours, creates a glossy, reflective surface—symbolizing the vibrancy of life’s colors. With a limited palette of white, black, and blue, the artist presents a poetic and dynamic vision of urban reality. This project led to an invitation to exhibit in 2010 at the Italian Cultural Institute in Damascus, Syria, and to participate in an international art symposium in Idlib. Urban wanderers become recurring protagonists in her work, embodying aimless pilgrimage as a metaphor for existence. In the subsequent projects Urban Aspirations, 2013 and Here and Now, 2014, while earlier works were predominantly monochromatic and melancholic, this new vision is suspended, contemplative, and enriched with color. In a surreal atmosphere, the ordinary individual, immersed in vibrant hues, sheds anonymity. Butterfly wings sprout from their shoulders, symbolizing dreams and aspirations that accompany them along their pathoften unnoticed. These fleeting, elusive urban figures become extraordinary, unveiling a new, unreal rivelando una nuova, irrealmente reale visione del mondo. Queste figuyet deeply real perspective of the world. In Josepha (2018), Lauriola explores a new technique through the use of resin, balancing control and creative impulse. Dedicated to the feminine world, this project celebrates the beauty and strength of women. Free brushstrokes and fluid resin bring to life ethereal, magnetic female figures, no longer encased in plexiglass but liberated and powerful. Women as guardians of Time and Love, who embrace and celebrate themselves. Bold strokes, softened colors, and surreal atmospheres define these works, drawing the viewer into a universe of dreams, uncertainties, desires, and energies. With a keen sensitivity to style and fashion, these female figures emerge as symbols of character and vitality, bridging the realms of reality and imagination. With the exhibition Women in Colors, hosted in 2018 by the Domus Art Gallery in Athens, Lauriola celebrated the strength and essence of the female world through color and material. Drawing inspiration from the vibrant traditional garments of African women, she created works where resin and pigments blend fluidly, generating a chromatic explosion full of energy and meaning. Transparent and lightweight yet strong figures emerge, symbolizing the female ability to adapt and overcome imposed limitations. Through this series, the artist transforms matter into emotion, offering a reflection on the condition of women through the powerful language of color and movement In About Dreams (2019), figures, primarily young women and girls, emerge infused with symbolism and a powerful gestural energy, as if suspended in the limbo between the conscious and the unconscious. These figures become the
